Wisdom Tooth Surgery

Wisdom Tooth surgery is performed to remove teeth in our third set of molars. Reasons for removal of wisdom teeth may include tooth decay, growth of cysts around wisdom teeth or impacted wisdom teeth. Due to the above reasons, around 80% of us have to remove our wisdom teeth.

Impacted wisdom teeth may be caused by the wisdom teeth growing in a tilted manner, causing it to be impeded by neighboring teeth. This may cause painful inflammation of gums as the wisdom tooth has only partially emerged out of of the gums. If wisdom teeth are impacted, surgery is required to remove them.

Wisdom tooth surgery is done under local anesthesia, which is delivered by injection. After removal, your dentist will close the wound using stitches. To facilitate healing, we advise that you avoid food that are spicy, acidic, crunchy or chewy. The recovery duration may differ based on individual, lasting from a few days to a few weeks.

Wisdom tooth surgery is a procedure which is MediSave claimable.
