Impacted wisdom teeth may be caused by the wisdom teeth growing in a tilted manner, causing it to be impeded by neighboring teeth. This may cause painful inflammation of gums as the wisdom tooth has only partially emerged out of of the gums. If wisdom teeth are impacted, surgery is required to remove them.
Wisdom tooth surgery is done under local anesthesia, which is delivered by injection. After removal, your dentist will close the wound using stitches.
